MicrHotel - A DOUBLE CHAIR THAT HOLDS BAGGAGESA relaxing and comfortable double chair in which to spend the brief or long wait for todays modern day airport mobility. A prompt and cost effective solution, with a sleep convertible feature which is also suitable for passengers carrying bulky baggage.

The project origin: the need for a dormitory zone_Inside London Stansted international airport has long been recognized by safety experts/inspectors, by airport policy and also by airport employees.   There is also a need for a lounge for overnight passengers attending the first scheduled flights which can often be before dawn. The bottom airport area, located in front of the check-in desk within the great hall, is furnished with standard waiting room chairs. The same equipment is evenly placed in all airport waiting zones. Every night in this area, between 20 to 30 people spend the night sitting on these chairs. Concerned about leaving their baggage unguarded, whilst trying to take a nap, they are forced to tie them together or use them as replacement pillows. This demonstrates a feature of the Low Cost Generation (rif. Courrier International n°798) which prefers to travel under extreme conditions than not to travel at all. The demand is thus clearly there.

Project description_micrHotel PATENTED. Summary description. The design features: seat made with chasis either overlapping or set side by side (juxtaposed), associated by a zipper rotation joint (see pictures below). The chasis are designed in such a way to enable the formation of a chair that offers a postured seat, when the chasis are overlapped , or a chair-lay down when the chasis are juxtaposed , in such a way that provides a closed inferior space that shields baggage, small belongings and other objects. PATENTED.

.

This design is intended to provide a comfortable space to rest for people carrying baggage. When the two chasis are overlapped, the chair-throne offers a free postured seat for the passenger's short waits. When the superior chasis rotates around the zipper-joint, it becomes a chair-lay down that offers an optimal comfort for the long waits. The passenger, relieved from any concerns about his baggage, may sleep trouble free. The baggage, engulfed in the chair trunk, will be sheltered by the weight of his own body .

Expressly conceived for airportl spaces, but of great utility whenever a journey occurs, micrHotel is the ready-to-go solution in case of delays or whenever there is the need to rest e.g. a break during the day, a rest after lunch, etc. As an alternative to VIP or business waiting rooms, micrHotel offers the possibility to catch a catnap wherever in a simple, intuitive and economic way, taking care of the traveller's baggage and goods. (...) The postured chair-lay down is the ultimate goal of this project. It is not intended merely for passengers searching for more comfort in a waiting room chairs.   It   addresses the needs of passengers looking for a more intimate and customized way to spend waiting time during their travels. The postured chair-lay down is designed for travelling groups or families. This is due to its large trunk which encloses, and thus safeguards, all baggage in one component during the period of rest. (...) This step also enables elderly people to seat themselves easily onto the chair-lay down. (...) This has to be seen against the backdrop of collective vigilance against the current threat of terrorism. The micrHotel project has therefore considered the possibility that the chair could be used to hold dangerous baggage . To avoid that micrHotel may hide some dangerous baggages when, the project foresees ...

(...) The aim of this project is to offer an opportunity to rest for these types of passengers during their wait and/or a low-cost solution to how to spend the night at the place of travel with the highest standards of comfort whilst keeping baggage safe. The mission is to bring the equivalent services of a hotel close to the passenger who would ideally already want to be at home. An easy and immediate access with a cost accessible to everybody. The target of the project micrHotel is every person who moves with or without baggage along an urban or inter-urban journey during which he is forced to a wait : airport, railway station, workplace, meeting place, museum, fair, lecture and university, etc.

(...) The competitive advantage to produce and commercialize the double chair micrHotel comes from the fact that it is an invention protected by international patent applied for November 4th 2005. At present, there is no direct competitor in the world. (...)
